Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: BICU Duration: 22 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (07:00 - 19:30) Experience: Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience in the specialty License: Valid RN license (compact RN license accepted) Certifications: BLS, ACLS required - AHA ONLY Must-Have: ICU experience required Epic experience required Traveler will be required to pass Telemetry test prior to being cleared to start Description: We are seeking an experienced inpatient Registered Nurse (RN). Practice as part of a collaborative and supportive multidisciplinary team. Provide compassionate care to both adult and pediatric patients. Patients may have chemical, electrical, scald, or thermal burns and/or complex wounds in a critical care setting. Be part of a Level One Trauma Center and an ACS-verified Adult and Pediatric Burn Center. ICU experience is required; no burn experience is necessary. Travelers may be assigned to burn patients but would not be asked to perform burn cares. Travelers are required to float as needed. Inpatient RN travelers must have two years of acute care experience within the last three years in the specialty. Pass/Fail testing is required with strict passing criteria. A telemetry exam will be required prior to start. The adult exam requires 100% identification of lethal rhythms: Ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole. No incorrect answers are allowed on questions regarding third-degree heart blocks; one incorrect answer will cause failure. A passing score of 80% or higher is required. The pediatric exam requires identification of ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole, and sinus bradycardia. A passing score of 80% or higher is required for the pediatric exam as well. If a traveler fails the second attempt, they will be required to submit a certificate of completion of a cardiac interpretation review course before a third attempt is assigned. If the traveler does not pass after three attempts, the assignment will be canceled. The unit has Interdisciplinary Support including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Social Services. Patients are cared for in an 11-bed acuity adaptable unit. Daily Census is approximately 10.55 patients. The patient age groups include neonates, adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Staffing ratios are maintained at 2 patients per nurse during days and nights, including weekends.
