About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) Duration: 17 weeks Shift: Varied (any day Monday to Friday) Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: - ACLS (AHA) - BLS (AHA) - NIHSS - PALS (AHA) Must-Have: - Acute recovery experience Description: The position involves working in a Post Anesthesia Care Unit. The unit has 8 PACU beds and provides care for patients following anesthesia. Ratios for patient care are generally 1:1 or 1:2. Candidates must be capable of reading and interpreting EKG strips. Pharmacy and Respiratory Therapy services are available 24/7. Call responsibilities include approximately 5 weekend call shifts and 8 weeknight shifts per quarter. Weeknight shifts may include hours from 10 PM to 5 AM or 10 PM to 7 AM. Weekend shifts may include hours from 7 AM to 7 PM or 7 PM to 7 AM. Floating between different units may be necessary as needed. Common patient diagnoses include total hip and knee replacements, general surgeries, daVinci procedures, neurologic cases, and urology cases. This is not a trauma hospital; PACU may accommodate ICU patients until beds become available. Cancellation policy allows for shift cancellations by the hospital under specific conditions. The charting system used is Cerner. This position does not require a BSN degree.
