School Nutrition WorkerPrepares, cooks, and serves nutritionally adequate meals to students, staff and visitors in an efficient and courteous manner in accordance with accepted food service procedures and Health Department requirements; adheres to all meal accountability procedures including cashiering.Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent.Food service experience preferred, but not mandatory.Must possess or be willing to learn skills needed to operate food preparation equipment and perform necessary cleaning.Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.Ability to be present at the physical worksite.Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Assist in the preparation of various foods for cooking and serving.Follow daily production schedules, including preparing recipes as writtenUse portion control to equally portion all foods.Implement state/local health codes as they relate to food service.Follow all safety regulations.Wash dishes and store them properly.Sweep and clean kitchen floors.Serve on the serving line.Adhere to all meal accountability procedures including cashieringFollow appropriate dress codes to represent school nutrition in a professional manner.Clean equipment, kitchen and dining tables, as needed.Utilize and maintain equipment as trained and report faulty equipment to School Nutrition Manager.Assist with receiving USDA commodities and purchased foods.Assist with receiving, unloading and storage of all foods and supplies in cooler, freezer and dry storage areas.Communicate effectively and promotes good public relations with students, teachers, administrators and the community.Works with peers/supervisors in tactful, considerate and cooperative manner and assist others when neededParticipate in and attend all required training programs including yearly in-service training, ONE course within first year of employment and any additional training as scheduled through the School Nutrition DepartmentPossess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position.Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignment.Review current developments, literature and technical source information related to job responsibilities.Ensure adherence to good safety procedures including approved instructions for chemical use in the operation of the program.Carry out duties in accordance with federal and state laws, and established state and local school board policies, regulations and practices.Perform other duties as assigned.Job descriptions are designed and intended only to summarize the essential duties, responsibilities, qualifications, and requirements for the purpose of clarifying the general nature and scope of a position's role as part of the overall organization.
