Physician Assistant

Overview The Advanced Practitioner (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) will provide comprehensive healthcare services to patients under the supervision of, or in collaboration with, the attending physician. Responsibilities include medical evaluation, treatment, counseling, referrals, and participation in quality improvement initiatives. Responsibilities Assess, treat, counsel, and educate patients and their families; provide ongoing medical services. Evaluate patients and perform physical examinations, obtain and update medical histories. Order and interpret diagnostic tests (radiologic and laboratory studies) to determine abnormal conditions. Develop and implement patient management and treatment plans based on needs. Coordinate and communicate patient care with other health professionals and institutions. Provide high‑quality care based on best practice and evidence‑based medicine. Perform therapeutic and diagnostic procedures in accordance with clinical privileges. Conduct virtual care services via St. Luke’s virtual care platform (live, interactive clinical assessments, diagnosis, and treatment). Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networking, and participation in professional societies. Maintain required continuing medical education. Participate in research, development, implementation, and tracking of clinical management guidelines. Teach multidisciplinary students, residents, fellows, and support positive educational environments. Precept AP student clinical rotations when assigned. Demonstrate performance improvement in clinical care/outcomes, customer/service improvement, operational system/process, and safety. Utilize electronic medical records, document optimally for billing, and stay current with documentation standards. Demonstrate financial responsibility and accountability through efficient use of resources. Develop care and disposition plans in collaboration with the case management team. Physical and Sensory Requirements Sit up to 8 hours per day; 3 hours at a time. Stand for up to 8 hours per day; 8 hours at a time. Walk up to 6 hours per day. Frequently lift, carry, and push objects up to 10 pounds; rarely up to 75 pounds. Frequently stoop and bend. Frequently reach above shoulder level. Frequently handle, grasp, twist, and turn as required for procedures. Perceive attributes of an object through touch. Hear normal conversation, including high and low frequencies. See general, near, far, color, and peripheral vision. Speak normal conversation and project voice for lectures and presentations. Qualifications Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner or Medical Physician Assistant with a current license to practice in Pennsylvania or New Jersey. Physician Assistants must also hold current certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
