This position serves as a Rehabilitation Technician for the Blind/Visually Impaired in the Division of Blind Services District 3 Office, located in Jacksonville, Florida. This position is responsible for providing intake services, case management duties, and providing clerical support for blind and visually impaired consumers of the Division of Blind Services. Intake services include gathering eye medical data for the purpose of eligibility determination by the Human Services Program Consultant (Employment Program Counselor). Clerical duties may include front-desk duties as well as light office duties (copying, faxing, scanning, opening mail) among other duties.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Note: The omission of specific job duties does not preclude management from assigning specific duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position.) The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position that is responsible for executing the following functions: Serves as the main office receptionist for the Jacksonville Office. Provides intake services and assists with case management activities as directed by the Health Consultant B – SES (WT: Assistant District Administrator). Prepares correspondence and other documents as directed. Independently enters data into the AWARE system, which includes the processing of purchasing orders and invoices for client services. Provides clerical support to professional staff to include preparing travel documents (Securing accommodations, preparing travel authorizations and reimbursements), preparing vehicle reports, and assisting with Fleet duties as needed. Maintain client files as directed. Processes incoming/outgoing mail as assigned and provides support services to the IL/CP Human Services Program needed. Prepares administrative purchase orders (PO’s) for the district. Provides support to the Human Services Program Consultants (VR Counselors) as needed. Provides administrative support to the Rehab Services District Administrator and the Health Consultant B – SES as needed. Scans, faxes, and makes copies of various documents and files as needed. Gathers Eye Medical Information. Gathers other information for the purpose of determining eligibility by the Human Services Program Consultants. Maintains an understanding of various eye conditions and their impact on functional abilities, knowledge of community resources, and the ability to convey that knowledge as it relates to eligibility and provision of rehabilitation services. Reviews applications and referrals. Gathers necessary data and information. Informs applicants of available services and information on referrals as needed. Processes referrals and applications including documenting case activities in accordance with state/federal laws and regulations, program procedures and timeframes. Utilizes the electronic client information system (AWARE) as a case management tool. Provides case management support, including purchase of services, to the Human Services Program Consultants in the District Office. Assists the Human Services Program Consultants with monitoring facility cases, including case closures. Works in conjunction with the Human Services Program Consultants to ensure timely provision of services. Provides information and referral services for individuals who are eligible or ineligible for DBS services. Accurately enters data into the electronic client information system (AWARE). Provides data and generates reports as needed. Provides telephone support and coverage in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner; delivers messages accurately and in a timely manner. Sets up case files and maintains correct case file order as required. Effectively and appropriately maintains, uses and monitors district funds, equipment and resources. Maintains copier machine (monthly usage reports to leasing agent, service calls and toner replacement). Promotes agency referrals when given the opportunity (provides documentation, applications and general information). Provides general software information and support to staff as needed. Tracks all openings and closings of client cases in the IL/CP/OB/BB programs. Provides assistance to District staff, consumers, and the public as needed. Orders supplies as needed. Three (3) to five (5) years of professional and relevant experience in a public vocational rehabilitation program.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Annual Leave - All full-time Career Service employees filling established positions earn annual leave in varying increments dependent upon years of creditable service. Employees with up to 5 years of creditable service earn 8.667 hours per month, with 5 to 10 years earn 10.833 hours per month and those with over 10 years of service earn 13 hours per month. Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions are credited with 176 hours of annual leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of the initial appointment.
