HIGH SCHOOL ASSISTANT DEAN OF STUDENTS
LOCATION North Broward Preparatory School
JOB PURPOSE
The Assistant Dean of Students supports the Dean of Students in
fostering a positive, safe, and respectful school culture grounded in the
school's Honor Code, mission, and values. This individual works closely
with students, faculty, parents, and administrators to promote student
accountability, personal growth, character development, and community
engagement. The Assistant Dean serves as a visible presence on
campus, helping students navigate academic, social, and behavioral
challenges while ensuring that expectations for conduct and citizenship
are consistently upheld.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
STUDENT LIFE AND CULTURE
- Promote and uphold the school's Honor Code and community standards.
- Build meaningful relationships with students to encourage personal responsibility, integrity, and
- leadership.
- Serve as a trusted mentor and resource for students experiencing academic, social, or personal challenges.
- Assist in creating and maintaining a positive, inclusive, and supportive school environment.
- Participate actively in student activities, assemblies, school events, and traditions.
STUDENT CONDUCT AND ACCOUNTABILITY
- Investigate and address violations of the school's Honor Code, Code of Conduct, and disciplinary policies.
- Meet with students and families regarding behavioral concerns and disciplinary matters.
- Maintain accurate records of student conduct incidents and interventions.
- Monitor student attendance, address attendance concerns by timely communication with students and families.
- Develop restorative and educational approaches to discipline that emphasize growth and accountability.
- Collaborate with faculty and administrators to monitor student behavior and implement support planswhen necessary.
- Communicate with families and students the expectations of the school dress code by providing timely information on special dress days and events.
HONOR CODE ADMINISTRATION
- Educate students, faculty, and families regarding the expectations and principles of the Honor Code.
- Participate in Discipline Committee, hearings, and related processes when applicable.
- Monitor trends in student conduct and recommend strategies to strengthen the culture of integrity.
- Ensure consistent and equitable application of Honor Code policies across the school community.
STUDENT SUPPORT AND WELLNESS
- Collaborate with administration, counselors, advisors, residential staff (if applicable), and academic leaders to support student well-being.
- Assist in identifying students who may benefit from additional social, emotional, or behavioral support.
- Participate in student intervention teams and support meetings.
- Help coordinate programs related to character education, leadership development, and wellness initiatives.
PARENT AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT
- Communicate regularly and professionally with parents regarding student development, attendance, conduct, dress code and school expectations.
- Partner with families to support student success and personal growth.
- Facilitate meetings and conferences as needed to address student concerns.
FACULTY COLLOBORATION
- Support faculty in managing classroom behavior and student concerns.
- Provide guidance regarding student conduct policies and disciplinary procedures.
- Collaborate with teachers, advisors, coaches, and activity sponsors to ensure consistent expectations for students.
- Partner with Department Heads and teachers to investigate and address all matters of Academic Dishonesty.
CAMPUS SUPERVISION
- Maintain a visible presence throughout the campus during the school day and at extracurricular activities.
- Assist with arrival, dismissal, lunch supervision, assemblies, dances, athletic events, and other student gatherings.
- Support emergency management, safety procedures, and crisis response efforts.
LEADERSHIP AND ADMINISTRATION
- Assist the Dean of Students with policy implementation, training and strategic initiatives related to student life.
- Analyze student attendance, conduct data, and prepare reports as needed.
- Participate in committees and administrative meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Students or Head of School.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, Counseling, Student Affairs, Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience working with adolescents in an educational setting.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to the mission and values of North Broward Preparatory School.
PREFERRED:
- Master’s degree in education, Educational Leadership, Counseling, or related field.
- Experience in student discipline, student affairs, boarding school life, or character education programs.
- Bilingual is highly preferred.
- Experience working within an Honor Code or student accountability system.
- Training in restorative practices, conflict mediation, or adolescent development.
