The Police Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining public safety and order within the community. Officers are responsible for patrolling assigned areas, responding to emergencies, conducting investigations, and enforcing laws while ensuring the rights of individuals are respected. About the Department The Lake Park Police Department consists of a small number of sworn officers and support staff dedicated to providing professional, community‑oriented policing. The department emphasizes visibility, proactive enforcement, and partnership with citizens, businesses, and regional agencies. Key Duties Patrol designated areas to deter and detect criminal activity. Respond promptly to calls for service, emergencies, and incidents. Conduct thorough investigations of crimes and accidents, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. Enforce traffic laws and regulations, issuing citations as necessary. Prepare detailed reports on incidents, arrests, and investigations. Engage with the community to build trust and foster positive relationships. Provide first aid and emergency assistance when required. Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies as needed. Participate in training programs to enhance skills in conflict management, leadership, and law enforcement practices. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in criminal justice. Must be at least 21 years of age. POST certified state of Georgia in good standing. Have at least 5 years of experience, preferred. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the job. Ability to work different shifts, which involve different hours. Pre-employment background screen required Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Knowledge of law enforcement practices and procedures. Background & Conditions of Employment Finalists will undergo a full background investigation, including GCIC/NCIC fingerprinting, driver history, POST certification review, and drug screening.
