Reports to: CEO
Overview
K&M Recruiting has partnered with Stewards of Recovery , a leading addiction and mental health organization in southeastern Idaho. We are looking for a strong behavioral health compliance leader who excels at translating complex regulatory requirements into smooth, practical clinical workflows. Rather than acting as a rigid policy enforcer, you will build data-driven dashboards and supportive auditing systems that empower our clinical supervisors to lead their teams effectively. You will directly supervise a dedicated, non-clinical Compliance Analyst, delegating routine auditing legwork while focusing your energy on high-level strategy, payer relations, and audit readiness.
Core Responsibilities
1. Audit Management
- Accreditation Leadership : Serve as the internal lead and master strategist for CARF and Joint Commission audits, maintaining continuous readiness.
- Payer Integrity: Manage payer reviews, pre-authorizations, and documentation requests, most notably leveraging automated/AI compliance systems to streamline submissions and defend billing.Ensure adherence to ethical standards and regulatory guidelines
- Audit Incident Reporting : own sentinel/critical event investigation processes, including root-cause analysis and corrective action plans.
- Policy & Procedure Governance : Develop, revise, and maintain compliance policies and procedures across all levels of care, keeping them current with CARF, Joint Commission, Idaho IDAPA licensing, HIPAA, and 42 CFR Part 2 requirements.
- Audit Navigation: Serve as internal lead and master strategist for CARF and Joint Commission audits, maintaining continuous readiness and strong survey outcomes.
2. Reporting & Accountability
- Systemic Tracking: Partner with internal teams to build clear, objective performance dashboards tracking documentation timeliness, note completion, and mandatory training.
- Enabling Clinical Leadership: Provide clean data directly to clinical supervisors so they can manage their teams effectively
- Supervision/Direct Reports: Directly supervise and mentor current Compliance Analyst, delegating routine auditing legwork while focusing on high-level strategy and system design.
3. Cultural Integration & Clinical Collaboration
- Diplomatic Partnering: Act as a supportive peer to clinical/executive leadership, providing external regulatory expertise through collaboration, consensus, and value-add tools/strategies.
- Community & Cultural Fit: Build deep trust within a regional ecosystem by demonstrating humility, exceptional listening skills, and respect for local community dynamics.
- Clinical Expertise: Leveraging a clinical background as LPC, LCSW, LCPC, or LMFT and occasionally provides peer training or clinical insight to further validate regulatory recommendations.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience leading CARF, Joint Commission, or state Medicaid audits within behavioral health, SUD, or residential settings
- Working knowledge of HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, Idaho IDAPA, and Magellan/Medicaid documentation standards
- Bachelor’s required; Master’s, and/or active clinical licensure (LCSW, LCPC, LPC, LMFT) highly regarded
- CHC/CHPC certification desired but not required
- Healthcare technology aptitude and experience implementing AI-driven compliance/documentation solutions
- Auditor experience, ideally with CARF and/or Joint Commission
- Flexibility to travel to Idaho Falls, Idaho and surrounding areas
Compensation
- Strong base salary with flexibility for part time or full time
- Benefits including PTO, holidays, medical, dental, vision, and tuition reimbursement
Interview Process
- Virtual pre-screen: Brief 15-30 minute call with Kyle or Matt to review your background and total alignment to the role
- Virtual interview with CEO: 45 minute deep dive into the role, company, and core competencies
- Final Virtual Panel interview: 30 minutes to meet additional team members, discuss additional role focus areas, and get another look at the culture
