Laborer (OP Golf) Job Title: Laborer (Temporary) Location: 12501 Quivira, Johnson, Overland Park, KS 66213 Department: Parks and Recreation – Overland Park Golf Course SUMMARY Assists with mowing and trimming of golf course areas. Operates and maintains various hand and power tools. Performs manual labor as needed. Maintains greens and tee areas. Assists with emergency operations, including snow removal. RESPONSIBILITIES Mows greens, tees, fairways, and rough areas. Operates riding and hand mowers, weed-eaters, shovels, and other hand and power tools. Hand waters greens, operating utility cart with water hose to designated areas and hot spots. Performs manual labor as needed; assists full‑time employees with irrigation repairs – digging, sod placement, raking, hauling fertilizer, filling water jugs, planting flowers. Assists with golf course set‑up: changing cups, moving markers, picking up trash. Assists with emergency operations including snow removal. Punctual, meets attendance standards, and works required days/hours. Communicates with supervisors, subordinates, vendors, and other stakeholders. REQUIREMENTS Minimum high school education or equivalent experience; minimum age 18. Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record. EXPERIENCE At least six months experience in landscaping/horticulture, operating mowing equipment, hand and power tools, and motorized utility vehicles. SKILLS Manual dexterity. Good listening skills. Good oral communication skills. MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Work under distracting conditions. Read and comprehend technical manuals and instructions. Analyze safety situations and make recommendations. Follow oral instructions. Mechanical aptitude. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Travel and tour city facilities and parks in adverse conditions. Traverse rough terrain.Operate power and hand tools. Exposure to chemical liquids, powders, and fumes. Operate city vehicles and equipment. Exposure to vehicle fumes and noise. Exposure to extreme environmental conditions. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY None. WORK HOURS AND COMPENSATION Normal Work Hours: Variable Hours – PT/SEA/TMP Pay Rate: $15.25 per Hour Application Deadline: Open until filled LEGAL AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS All applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States and provide proof of eligibility if selected.
