We provide:Comprehensive health benefits that start day 1Student Loan Repayment Assistance & Reimbursement ProgramsFamily-focused benefitsWellness incentivesOngoing mentorship, development, and leadership programsAnd moreWork Location: Atlanta, GAPerioperative ServicesPerioperative Services is a dynamic department, consisting of 28 Adult Operating Rooms as well as 6 Operating Rooms in the Winship Cancer Institute.As part of Emory University Healthcare, our employees participate in the implementation of cutting-edge surgical technology and assist in the latest procedures.ResponsibilitiesProvides overall leadership for the Sterile Processing department by developing goals and objectives which align with organizational valuesOversees the development of policies which affects the sterilization processes of perioperative and clinic areaPrepares, presents, and assesses the operating and capital expenditure budgets to insure they meet approved requirementsMonitors and establishes processes to ensure that all practices of the Sterile Processing department are within the established guidelines of the appropriate regulatory agenciesDevelops goals and objectives for Sterile Processing based on interpretation of the policy and goals of Perioperative and Procedural ServicesDevelops and implement plan to establish priorities and to achieve short and long term goalsEnsures department understands and supports the vision of the hospital and medical centerInitiates changes in or develop new policies, procedures and/or methods based on standards of AAMIAnalyzes long-range impact of decisions and plansEnsures the most effective operations of Sterile Processing through program development, process improvement and coordination/integration of processes within Perioperative and Procedural Services and other departmentsReviews and provides recommendations and support to other departments on issues related to sterile processingStandardizes processing services, processes, resources, and practices to improve quality and efficiencyAdjusts work schedules or project priorities to meet emergencies or changing conditionsRepresents Sterile Processing on departmental and/or interdepartmental committees to address problems and facilitate information exchange about programs, problems, etc.Leads, attends and provides input at intradepartmental leadership meetings to ensure leadership team is aware of department's operational statusAnalyzes and evaluate ongoing department programs to identify areas where adjustments/improvements are neededDevelops staffing plans to ensure operational and administrative needs are met. Defines and achieves financial targets in support of business goals of Perioperative and Procedural ServicesPrepares annual operating budget for Sterile Processing and Surgical Instrumentation including direct and indirect labor, material and supplies, services, equipment maintenance and replacementPresents and justifies proposed budgets (operating and capital expenditure) to hospital administration review committeeEvaluates organizational functions and structures to best determine the allocation and utilization of resourcesMonitors and reviews department financials on monthly basis; determines cause and corrective action for any variancePrepares justification or develops alternatives for cost containment/reductionProjects future budgets based upon analysis of current operationsCreates and exceeds service standards utilizing key service dimension and from knowledge of patient/customer expectations and best practiceEstablishes service standards for the department and determine if service standards are compatible with financial targetsEnsures that the service standards are met or exceeded by utilizing customer satisfaction, best practices and market information to improve stakeholder service and satisfactionMeets or exceeds national operational benchmarks for Sterile Processing DepartmentsMinimum QualificationsMaster's degree requiredIf Master's degree is in a non-health related field, Bachelor's degree must be in health related fieldFive years of supervisory/leadership experience in central sterile processing strongly desiredBLS requiredPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (Medium-Heavy) 36-75 lbs., 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 20-35 lbs., 34-66% of the workday; (frequently); 10-20 lbs., 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 75 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 35 lbs.; Occasional to frequent standing & walking; Occasional sitting; Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing); Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasksAdditional DetailsEmory is an equal opportunity employer, and qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, protected veteran status or other characteristics protected by state or federal law.Emory Healthcare is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities upon request.
