AI Native Software Engineer

Salary: $112,900 - 366,300 per year Requirements:

• We need at least 8 years of experience building and shipping production software.
• We need at least 8 years of experience working across the full stack, including frontend and backend systems.
• We need at least 8 years of software engineering fundamentals, including system design, data modeling, APIs, testing, cloud-native development, security, observability, and production operations.
• We need at least 2 years of hands-on AI-native engineering experience in day-to-day work, such as building with LLM APIs, coding agents, agent frameworks, tool integrations, retrieval systems, evaluation frameworks, or production guardrails.
• We need at least 1 year of experience building reliable AI or agentic systems beyond a prototype or demo, with a track record of taking products or major capabilities from zero to one and owning them through production.
• We need demonstrated ability to use AI development tools to significantly increase engineering leverage without lowering quality.
• We need a bachelors degree or equivalent (minimum 12 years of work experience); if holding an associates degree, we need at least 6 years of work experience.
• We need excellent judgment under ambiguity and the ability to make progress without complete information.
• We need strong product instincts and the ability to recognize what makes a product useful, intuitive, and well crafted.
• We need the ability to communicate technical decisions clearly and work closely with product managers, designers, customers, and domain experts.
• We need a genuine interest in frontier AI and a habit of testing new models, tools, and engineering approaches in practice.

• We own meaningful product capabilities end to end, including application architecture, data models, backend services, APIs, integrations, AI systems, and user experiences.
• We work directly with product managers and designers to turn customer problems into simple, high-quality products.
• We move between prototyping and production engineering, making thoughtful tradeoffs between speed and investment in scale, security, and reliability.
• We design and implement agentic systems, including model interactions, tool use, retrieval, orchestration, state management, evaluations, observability, and guardrails.
• We build products that perform reliably in complex real-world industry workflows, not just controlled demonstrations.
• We use customer feedback, product data, evaluations, and operational signals to continuously improve the product.
• We use coding agents and AI development tools throughout the engineering lifecycle, creating the context, specifications, tests, development environments, CI pipelines, and evaluation systems needed for safe and efficient agent work.
• We direct multiple streams of agent-assisted work where appropriate, review outputs critically, and remain accountable for everything that reaches production.
• We translate ambiguous product opportunities into clear technical approaches and executable plans.
• We make architecture decisions for new product areas and carry them from prototype through production.
• We balance speed, simplicity, extensibility, security, cost, and operational reliability.
• We identify where the team should build, buy, integrate, or deliberately defer.
• We stay close to users and customers and understand the workflows our software is changing.
• We own reliability, observability, security, performance, and maintainability in production.
• We provide rigorous technical review on the most important work.
• We help other engineers improve their judgment, execution, and use of AI-native development practices.
• We contribute to shared architecture, tools, standards, and operating practices across the broader product engineering organization.
• We help define how small, AI-native product teams should work as the company grows.
