API Inspector - Chicago, IL

Pay Rate $50-60/hour depending on experience and certifications Job Overview MISTRAS Group Inc. is in search of an API Inspector for full‑time work near Chicago, IL. The API Inspector will perform inspections on pressure vessels, piping, and above‑ground storage tank equipment to certify compliance and recommend and approve repairs in accordance with one or more of the following API standards: 510, 570, 653. Major Responsibilities/Activities Perform inspections on piping, pressure vessels, and storage tanks at scheduled intervals to maintain the mechanical integrity of piping throughout the refinery. Perform visual inspections of completed work and recommend and approve repairs. Assist in the scheduling of activities related to inspection. Use proper safety procedures and equipment. Properly use and complete customer and company job‑related forms and paperwork. Abide by company policies and procedures. Complete all required training, including tests, within company guidelines. Perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice. Prioritize and complete work assignments by specific deadlines. Deliver reports to clients. Work outdoors in a plant atmosphere. Work in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels. Wear required safety equipment. Minimum Requirements Possess the appropriate API certification(s). 2+ years of hands‑on API experience. High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or college credits preferred. Proficiency with MS Word and Excel and ability to write detailed inspection reports. Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds. Capability of climbing, working at high elevations, and working in confined spaces. Ability to walk and climb to maneuver within a refinery or plant environment, including access to elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells. Clear speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, enabling effective communication. Clear vision or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodation, enabling investigation. Manual dexterity or other abilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, enabling routine office duties. Essential Physical Functions Frequent lifting up to 30 lbs.
