Your expertise will empower students to navigate their environments confidently, building critical skills for independence and participation in the classroom.Key Qualifications:Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification requiredPrior experience supporting students with visual impairments, ideally within schoolsStrong communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary educational teams, students, and familiesAbility to develop, implement, and monitor individualized O&M programsUnderstanding of assistive technology and mobility devices as they pertain to student needsFlexibility working in a part-time (.2 FTE) contract role for the academic yearRole Responsibilities:Provide direct, individualized O&M instruction to four students as outlined in their IEPsConduct student assessments and develop customized plans to address each student's mobility and orientation needsTrain students in the use of mobility aids, adaptive techniques, and safe navigation within the school and community environmentsConsult with teachers, staff, and families to ensure student progress and facilitate access to curriculum and spacesMaintain thorough documentation and collaborate in IEP meetings, providing updates and recommendationsImmerse yourself in a supportive educational environment while exercising your clinical expertise and compassion.
