JOB SUMMARY

To assist the cook in planning, preparing and serving delicious and nutritious meals to Mt. Angel School District students and staff in the most efficient and effective manner. Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position must be able to perform with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned. High School Diploma or equivalent 18 years of age or older Ability to serve food, including meats and other main dishes, salads, sandwiches, desserts and work in portion control Ability to learn to operate industrial dishwashers, mixers, ovens, other related school kitchen equipment, appliances, and utensils Ability to supervise student helpers who work in the kitchen/ cafeteria Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, and staff Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions with speed and accuracy Ability to maintain confidentiality Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required. Complies with applicable District, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations. Attends work regularly and is punctual. Such alternative to the above requirements as the School Board or the Administration may deem appropriate and acceptable. Assist in routine kitchen duties, including dishwashing Assist in the serving of food to students and staff, ensuring supplies of food and beverages are maintained and spills cleaned up Assist in cleaning up, putting food away, storing equipment, washing dishes, scrubbing pots and pans, cleaning food serving areas, sinks, tables, etc. Responsible for following standards of efficiency and sanitation set by the Health Department and Cook Manager / Food Service Director Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and staff Participate in in-service training as assigned Able to fill in for cook in their absence Acts as a friendly ambassador for the Mt. Angel School District Perform such other tasks (which may require knowledge of other job descriptions) as may seem appropriate to the Board or Administration Abides by federal and state laws and school district policies, procedures and rules. Professionally represents the school and the District in interactions with community and staff. Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required. Complies with applicable District, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations. Attends work regularly and is punctual. Perform such other duties (which may require knowledge of other job descriptions) as may be assigned. Substitute Cook Assistant 4 hours/day as needed Mt. Angel School District POSTING DATE: August 26, 2026 SALARY: $16.87 - $20.75/hr. (depending on experience)

QUALIFICATIONS:
