Job Summary:

Labor and Delivery Nurse in a hospital setting. This role involves coordinating and delivering patient care in the labor and delivery department, utilizing the nursing process to promote positive outcomes for mothers and newborns. The clinical nurse reports to the Nurse Manager or Director and works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective care.

Job Details:

• Shift: Days, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina or in a compact state by the start date. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Certifications in NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) and intermediate AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) are required. No prior experience required.
• Preferred Qualifications: One (1) year of experience working as a registered nurse in an acute care or inpatient hospital setting in the Labor and Delivery specialty preferred.
• Additional Information: The role involves administering patient care under physician supervision, identifying expected patient outcomes, documenting care plans and responses, and collaborating with care teams. Competency in clinical skills must be maintained, including annual assessments. The nurse will also ensure safety protocols, promote infection control, and develop relationships with patients and families to support advocacy and discharge planning.
