(Chicago, IL) Facility Custodian - now hiring

As a Facility Custodian at New World Van Lines, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our Headquarter facility. This position, with attention to detail and dedication to excellence, contributes to creating a positive environment for our employees and clients alike.

Roles and Responsibilities

Cleaning and Sanitization: Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting to ensure all areas of the facility are clean and presentable. Sanitize high-touch surfaces regularly to maintain a hygienic environment.

Waste Management: Properly dispose of waste and recycling materials according to company guidelines. Monitor trash receptacles and replace liners as needed. Ensure compliance with waste disposal regulations.

Maintenance and Repairs: Identify and report any maintenance issues or repairs needed within the facility, such as broken fixtures, leaky faucets, or malfunctioning equipment. Assist with minor repairs and maintenance tasks as directed.

Stocking and Inventory: Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, toiletries, and other facility-related items. Restock supplies as necessary to ensure adequate availability for daily operations.

Safety and Security: Maintain a safe and secure environment by promptly addressing any safety hazards or security concerns. Follow established safety protocols and procedures at all times.

Assistance with Special Projects: Assist with special projects or tasks as assigned by management, which may include event setup, furniture rearrangement, or other duties to support the overall functioning of the facility.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Prior experience, two (2) years, in custodial or facilities maintenance preferred.

Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, equipment, and supplies.

Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements

Lifting (up to 50 lbs) and standing are required.

Requires bending, reaching, and stretching.

Must be able to receive and follow detailed instructions.

Required to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time and demonstrate manual dexterity while performing job duties.

Other duties as assigned.

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
