Position Details

Full-time position available with a work schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. No weekend, on-call, or holiday requirements.

Job Description

A Cytologist microscopically examines gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens for cancerous or pre-cancerous cells and other pathological findings. The role involves assisting in obtaining diagnostic quality samples and providing feedback on fine needle aspiration procedures. Daily responsibilities include screening paps and dividing non-gynecologic specimens. The Cytologist may work with pulmonary, interventional radiology, and endocrine specimens. The team currently consists of six cytologists and three laboratory processors.

Collaboration and Work Environment

This position offers the opportunity to engage with a wide variety of cases in an academic institution, allowing for collaboration with physicians and providing opportunities for direct patient care. The role fosters independence and trust from the pathologists.

Minimum Requirements

• Certification as a Cytologist (CT) from ASCP or eligibility contingent upon passing certification
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (new graduates are accepted)
• Preferred experience with the Rose procedure and fine needle aspiration procedures
• Ability to thrive in a high-stress environment while working alongside proceduralists
