Substitute Bus Driver

Duties And Responsibilities Of School Bus Drivers

To hold valid licenses and permits as required by the Department of Education.

To maintain a good driving record.

To participate in all required in-service training.

To possess a knowledge of all laws and regulations pertaining to the safe transportation of students.

To operate buses in accordance with all approved procedures, so as to provide the safest and most efficient transportation for students.

To maintain order and discipline among students being transported.

To comply fully with all directives regarding the handling of elementary student bus passes and secondary student bus passes.

To maintain current route descriptions for all routes driven.

To ensure compliance with all fueling and pre-trip inspection procedures.

To maintain the interior portions of buses driven so that standards of cleanliness are preserved.

To report all mechanical problems or suspected problems.

To perform such other duties as may properly be assigned by the Supervisor of Transportation or the Driver/Route Supervisor.
