Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring prior travel nursing experience and skill managing continuous IV cardiac drips.

Details

• Cardiac Telemetry unit with overflow IMCU responsibilities
• Adult to geriatric patient population
• Manages cardiac arrhythmias including stable A-Fib, SVT, and Bradycardia
• Cares for CHF, chest pain, renal, and pulmonary patients (COPD, pulmonary edema, PE, DVT)
• Occasional surgical patients (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains)
• Occasional post cardiac cath, TR band, DKA, and vascular patients
• Occasional ortho or CVA overflow patients transferred out as soon as possible
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6 on a 32-bed unit
• Uses Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR systems
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 to 19:00
• Typically every other weekend with perm staff scheduled first
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Rare call requirements with a 2-hour response time

Requirements

• Active RN license (GA or Compact) required at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS (NIHSS preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Experience managing continuous IV cardiac medications required, including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, and Nitroglycerin
• Experience with diuretics (Bumex, Lasix)
• Experience with anticoagulants (Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin)
• Experience managing insulin drips
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Experience with TR Bands and basic arrhythmia management
• General Med Surg skill set required

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry care to a mix of cardiac, pulmonary, renal, and surgical patients
• Manage and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias and respond using rapid response/code teams
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
• Holiday coverage required for designated major holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
