The right RT should have 1 year recent acute care experience. Read below for more requirements. Responsibilities Administer a variety of simple and complex respiratory and cardiology modalities to patients. Maintain appropriate patient records/documentation. Clean, disinfect, assemble, calibrate, and maintain respiratory and cardiology equipment and accessories. Evaluate equipment for proper and safe function. Report malfunctions to director. Perform arterial puncture and analyze sample according to procedure guidelines. Interact with co‑workers, nurses, physicians, and other hospital personnel to optimize the continuum of care for the patient being treated. Respond to emergent situations that could require respiratory support. Physical Demands Respiratory Therapists should be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean, or stoop without difficulty. They should be able to easily lift 20 pounds. Moving or lifting of patients may require lifting of up to 50 pounds at times. Respiratory Therapists must have specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Qualifications Must have 1 year of experience. Must have BLS, ACLS. PALS and NRP may be required in some areas. Certifications ACLS, BLS, NBRC, 2 Years Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.
