Hospital Executive Liaison

Sierra Donor Services (SDS) is hiring a Hospital Executive Liaison to serve as the onsite liaison at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, facilitating organ donation processes. Summary Function The Hospital Executive Liaison is responsible for providing support for organ donation activities within the assigned facility, maximizing opportunities for organ donation and ensuring excellent donor evaluation, management, and organ yield. Works with donor hospital personnel, physicians, and Organ Recovery Coordinators or Donation Coordinators to obtain organ and tissue authorization, and uses consistent communication and empathy for donor families and transplant recipients. Extensive on‑call services and call duties are required. The liaison may also assist with the bereavement program and provide care to donor and non‑donor families as applicable. Major Duties And Responsibilities Provides extensive on‑call services to obtain authorization for organ and tissue donation, with responsibilities affected by donor activity and staffing. Evaluates potential donors, obtains authorization, conducts medical/social history interview, assists donor families through end‑of‑life decisions, attends family meetings, and provides donation information as needed. Provides medical management of donors prior to recovery activities, directs placement of anatomical gifts as necessary, informs transplant surgeons, and coordinates perioperative management. Supports the Hospital Development Coordinator by identifying formal/informal leaders, assessing roles, collaborating to improve donation practices, assisting in policy development, and serving as an expert clinical resource. Communicates with hospital and medical staff to provide donor families with timely information on patients’ clinical course; maintains contact with staff to explain prognosis and advocate families. Provides education to potential donor families on brain death and organ donation opportunities; discusses organ Family Care Coordinator and tissue donation aims. When a donor is no longer a potential organ donor, establishes a support system with healthcare staff and maintains closure with the family. Provides bereavement program information, follow‑up letters, and facilitates donor/recipient communication per company policy. Performs other duties as assigned. Physical Traits Walks, stands and sits; must drive to on‑call assignments; communicates verbally and in writing with donor families, hospital personnel, and physicians. Qualifications Education required: RN/PA/Paramedic or related health‑care degree or licensure; BA/BS preferred; equivalent work experience; OPO experience. Experience: 2–4 years of healthcare experience with families, counseling, bereavement, or crisis intervention. Acute‑care social worker experience strongly desired. Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver license; ability to pass MVR underwriting requirements. Computer skills: Working knowledge of computers and basic data entry skills. #J-18808-Ljbffr
