ROLE OVERVIEW:

To provide research and support for the aggregate, ready mix and asphalt laboratory functions.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)

1. Develop bid blends in conjunction with Quality Manager.
2. Provide consultant expertise on mix designs.
3. Monitor flow of quality technicians field data.
4. Supervise mix design process and personnel
5. Asphalt mix designs and field start-up testing for compliance to include Superpave, Marshall or other design methods as needed.
6. Troubleshoot and interpret specifications with field managers.
7. Research new processes and technology.
8. Supervise and train quality control technicians during field testing and research.
9. Develop standardized quality measurement systems to support job completion.
10. Development and management of a system to analyze quality data.
11. Monitor quality costs relative to bid price.
12. Participate and provide appropriate leadership on the quality department team.
13. Provide aggregate/asphalt testing training for inter- and intra- company personnel.
14. Maintain current certifications and expand certifications to allow cross-training throughout company.
15. Provide feedback (annual and ongoing) for personnel supervised.
16. Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) with people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others.
17. Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.).
18. Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
19. Ensure OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
20. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements)

1. Four year degree from an accredited university or equivalent combination of experience and education preferred
2. Minimum 5+ years in construction materials lab setting
3. Ability to provide and maintain proper certifications, licensure, medical card and acceptable driving record.
