As our company continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our team and help lead the successful delivery of our projects.

Position Overview

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, execution, and financial performance of assigned construction projects, from preconstruction through final completion.

This position requires a strong understanding of commercial construction, demonstrated preconstruction experience, and the ability to independently manage multiple projects while maintaining established standards for quality, schedule, safety, and profitability.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, solutions-oriented construction professional who takes ownership, anticipates challenges, builds strong relationships, and effectively leads project teams.

Key Responsibilities

Preconstruction & Project Planning

• Actively participate in preconstruction activities, including conceptual estimating, budgeting, constructability reviews, value engineering, and project planning.
• Collaborate with estimating, design, and operations teams to develop project budgets, schedules, procurement strategies, and execution plans.
• Review architectural and engineering documents to identify scope gaps, coordination issues, constructability concerns, and potential cost impacts.
• Participate in subcontractor bidding, scope reviews, bid leveling, negotiations, and buyout.
• Identify long-lead materials, equipment requirements, and project risks early in the planning process.
• Support design-build and construction management delivery methods, including Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) development.
• Participate in client meetings during preconstruction, providing recommendations regarding cost, schedule, phasing, and construction feasibility.
• Ensure continuity between preconstruction planning and construction execution.

Project Management & Execution

• Independently manage multiple construction projects from preconstruction through substantial completion and closeout.
• Develop, implement, and maintain project schedules, budgets, procurement plans, and execution strategies.
• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and internal project personnel to ensure successful project delivery.
• Work closely with field superintendents to coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, and construction activities.
• Lead project meetings and communicate project progress, risks, and milestones to clients and company leadership.
• Proactively identify challenges and implement solutions to minimize schedule disruptions and financial impacts.
• Maintain strong client relationships and serve as a primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.

Financial Management & Contract Administration

• Take ownership of project financial performance, including budgets, cost controls, profitability, and forecasting.
• Prepare and maintain project cost reports, cash flow projections, and cost-to-complete forecasts.
• Oversee subcontractor procurement, contract negotiations, buyout, and subcontract administration.
• Manage owner billing, subcontractor payment applications, invoices, and project expenditures.
• Identify, price, negotiate, and administer change orders.
• Monitor project profitability and proactively identify opportunities to improve financial performance.
• Manage project risks, including cost overruns, schedule impacts, contractual exposures, and unforeseen conditions.

Leadership & Team Coordination

• Provide leadership and direction to project managers, project engineers, project coordinators, and field personnel assigned to projects.
• Establish clear expectations and accountability among project team members.
• Mentor and support junior project management personnel.
• Collaborate with estimating, design, preconstruction, and operations teams to ensure successful project transitions and execution.
• Maintain productive working relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of company project management procedures and best practices.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure projects are executed in accordance with contract documents, applicable building codes, regulatory requirements, and company standards.
• Coordinate with field personnel to maintain jobsite safety and quality control procedures.
• Oversee project documentation, RFIs, submittals, inspections, and closeout requirements.
• Coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction, inspectors, and regulatory agencies as required.
• Maintain awareness of healthcare-specific construction considerations, including life safety, infection control, occupied facility renovations, and phased construction.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Minimum of 8–10 years of commercial construction experience, including at least 5 years in a project management capacity.
• Demonstrated hands-on preconstruction experience, including estimating, budgeting, constructability reviews, subcontractor procurement, and project planning.
• Proven ability to independently manage commercial construction projects from preconstruction through completion.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, scheduling, estimating, and contract administration.
• Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, cost forecasting, change orders, and subcontractor relationships.
• Experience managing multiple projects and coordinating geographically dispersed teams.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and construction management software.
• Ability and willingness to travel to project locations throughout the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with healthcare, behavioral health, hospital, or other complex institutional construction projects.
• Experience with design-build and construction management delivery methods.
• Familiarity with AIA contracts, GMP agreements, and subcontractor procurement.
• Experience with occupied facility renovations, adaptive reuse, and phased construction.
• Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, and other construction management platforms.
• Experience coordinating with healthcare regulatory agencies and authorities having jurisdiction.
