Description

Job Purpose: The Dairy Clerk at Hugo's Family Marketplace plays a crucial role in ensuring the dairy section is well-maintained, organized, and stocked with fresh products. This position is responsible for providing excellent customer service, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting overall store operations. Key Responsibilities:

• Stock and rotate dairy products, ensuring that expiration dates are checked and outdated or damaged items are removed.
• Maintain proper temperatures and cleanliness in coolers and display cases to ensure product quality and safety.
• Assist customers with inquiries and provide excellent service to enhance their shopping experience.
• Receive and organize deliveries, ensuring that inventory is accurately accounted for and stored appropriately.
• Ensure that shelves and displays are clean, organized, and well-stocked to create an appealing shopping environment.
• Adhere to food safety, sanitation, and handling guidelines to maintain a safe and compliant work area.

Qualifications

Required Education: High school diploma or GED Preferred Education: Some coursework in food safety, nutrition, or retail (optional) On-the-job training is standard Required Experience: No prior dairy or retail experience required Willingness to learn stock rotation, cooler maintenance, and customer service Preferred Experience: 1–2 years of experience in retail, grocery, or food service Familiarity with dairy products, storage, and temperature control Required Skills and Abilities: Customer service Proper dairy handling and storage Attention to detail and product rotation (FIFO) Ability to maintain clean and organized work areas Physical stamina (standing, lifting, bending) Teamwork and reliability Time management and efficiency Food safety and sanitation awareness
