Tasks Include:

• Check gowns and scrub brushes at entrance
• Complete QC's on glucose machines
• Check for Admission Bags (Newborn, Preemie, UVC)
• Clean any dirty beds/equipment
• Make referrals on discharges
• Send admission slip on new babies
• Call admissions about any babies born during the night or weekend
• Put charts together for any new admissions
• Change out neosuckers on all patients
• Be sure all IV pumps are plugged in dirty and clean
• Stock small linen cart with linen
• Stock cribs with any needed supplies (formula, diapers, wipes, feeding syringes, and extension tubing) Ask nurses
• Answer doors and teach parents to scrub, answer phones
• Assist nurses with feedings, if needed, after other tasks are completed
• Check newborn screen results, if needed
• Complete any hearing screens (babies greater than 32 weeks and off oxygen)
• Put any new supplies away noting that expiration dates are satisfactory
• Scan unit for supplies or equipment that are out of place and return to appropriate location
• Check sharps boxes
• Change all suction set-ups on Monday and place expiration date on outside for Monday week
• Check all supplies and notify Nikki of anything that needs to be ordered (Check all bins carefully, some have several supplies in them, i.e. Brainz supplies)
• Donor Breast Milk and Fortifier-Milk Room
