General Laborer

The General Laborer uses hand and power tools to support production and packaging activities, including installing brackets, removing excess adhesive, polishing edges, and preparing finished products for shipment. This role involves consistent physical work, including lifting up to 50 pounds, and requires attention to detail, safe tool handling, and the ability to work efficiently in a warehouse and assembly environment.

Responsibilities

• Use hand and power tools to install brackets according to specifications and quality standards.
• Scrape excess glue from products and components to ensure clean, finished surfaces.
• Polish edges of materials to meet quality and safety requirements.
• Assist with wrapping pallets and preparing finished products for shipment.
• Handle and move materials safely, including lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Follow written and verbal instructions to complete assembly and general labor tasks accurately and on time.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools, equipment, and materials.
• Inspect work for quality, identify defects, and communicate issues to the appropriate team members.
• Use packaging materials and equipment to securely pack products for transport.
• Support general warehouse and assembly operations as needed, including basic material handling and staging.
• Follow all safety procedures and use tools and equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines.

Essential Skills

• Experience using hand tools in a production, assembly, or warehouse environment (minimum of 1 year).
• Experience using power tools safely and effectively (minimum of 1 year).
• Ability to perform general labor tasks in a warehouse or assembly setting.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Basic assembly skills, including following instructions and using tools to build or install components.
• Ability to perform packaging tasks, including wrapping pallets and preparing products for shipment.
• Attention to detail when scraping glue, polishing edges, and inspecting finished work.
• Reliability and consistency in attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work effectively on a close-knit team and follow direction from supervisors.

• Previous experience working in an assembly environment.
• Previous experience working in a warehouse setting.
• Comfort working with a variety of hand and power tools over the course of a shift.
• Willingness to learn new tasks and cross-train in different areas of production and packaging.

Work Environment

This role operates on a first shift schedule, typically from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with small amounts of overtime as needed, generally limited in duration. The environment is a warehouse and assembly setting where hand and power tools are used regularly, and where employees perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and pallet wrapping. The team is close knit, and many employees have long tenure, often 10 to 12 years or more, contributing to a stable and collaborative workplace. Breaks typically include two 15-minute periods, and there is some flexibility for employees who choose to adjust their break usage to leave earlier when appropriate. The setting emphasizes safety, teamwork, and consistent production, with regular interaction among team members and supervisors.

This is a Contract position based out of Sun Prairie, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
