The Tax Accountant role focuses on preparing and reviewing tax returns for small business clients, including corporations, partnerships, and individuals. Utilizing expertise in tax regulations and accounting software such as Sage and Drake Tax, the accountant ensures compliance and accuracy in all filings. This position requires independent management of client portfolios and thorough financial reporting to support strategic tax planning and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Prepare tax returns for corporations (1120 & 1120S), partnerships (1065), and individuals (1040)
- Conduct financial reporting and analysis to support tax filings
- Consult with small business clients to address tax questions and compliance issues
- Ensure adherence to tax laws and regulations through detailed research
- Utilize Sage Accounting and Drake Tax Software for accounting and tax preparation tasks
- Document and organize tax records accurately for audit readiness
- Analyze data to identify tax-saving opportunities and risks
- Manage independent tax filings for a portfolio of small business clients
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in tax accounting
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification
- Enrolled Agent (EA) or Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP) certification
- Proficiency with Sage Accounting Software and Drake Tax Software
- Experience with corporate (1120 & 1120S), partnership (1065), and individual (1040) tax preparation
- Strong financial reporting skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and communication abilities
