Summary The Security Supervisor leads a team of security officers to maintain a safe and secure hospital environment for all persons using the organization’s facilities. Responsibilities Leads daily operations of a security team. Schedules staff coverage and assigns officers to work areas. Assists with performance evaluation and counseling. Investigates and documents patient interventions. Writes and reviews reports for accuracy. Authors use of force reports with complete narratives. Ensures daily activity logs are submitted at the end of the shift. Provides hand‑off communication to the next shift. Orients and trains new staff. Ensures completion of required continuing education for current staff. Assists with the development and implementation of departmental policies. Ensures equipment is issued and returned. Oversees custody of secured weapons. Collaborates with clinical leadership to ensure appropriate security coverage when high‑risk patient situations are identified. Performs as a security officer as needed, including but not limited to: Monitors the conduct of hospital visitors. Confronts unauthorized people, and reports safety concerns, fire hazards, and security violations by patrolling the hospital facility. Locks/unlocks designated doors. Escorts team members, patients, and visitors to parking areas. Controls traffic and enforces parking regulations. Assists with patients, visitors, or team member behavior issues, and provides backup for law enforcement dealing with those situations. Responds to all emergency situations as well as activated security alarms.
