Respiratory Therapist

Cherrelyn Healthcare Center is seeking a compassionate and clinically skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team supporting residents in our care. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a crucial role in evaluating, treating, and managing patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary disorders in a long-term and post-acute care setting. Working closely with physicians, nurses, and an interdisciplinary care team, you will perform respiratory assessments, administer and monitor oxygen therapy, deliver aerosolized medications, and manage ventilator and airway support in accordance with established care plans and evidence-based practice. In this role, you will set up, operate, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment, including ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP devices, nebulizers, oxygen delivery systems, and monitoring devices. You will interpret diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gases, pulse oximetry, and respiratory mechanics to help guide clinical decisions, documenting all care accurately in the medical record and communicating changes in patient condition promptly to the healthcare team. You will educate residents and their families on respiratory conditions, medications, equipment use, and self-management strategies that support improved quality of life and safe transitions of care. You will contribute to individualized care planning, participate in care conferences, and collaborate closely with nursing and rehabilitation staff to coordinate safe mobility, infection prevention, and effective airway clearance techniques. The role requires strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and a calm, patient-centered approach when responding to respiratory emergencies, including rapid changes in status, codes, and urgent equipment needs. You will also assist in developing and reinforcing facility respiratory protocols, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
