Contract job opportunity. Position: Phlebotomist Spanish Speaking (Job Code: CVDJP00035263) Location: Asheville, NC Schedule: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday Projected duration: 3 months Benefits are available. Spanish speaking required. Geriatric experience required. Summary The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training and making workflow recommendations. Position Responsibilities Experience performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Explain the process of venipuncture or other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) to patients in a clear and courteous manner. Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understand all of the physician's orders. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy. Package specimens for transport. Store specimen samples at required temperatures, place samples in appropriate containers, accurately label, and follow specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and interpret laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Minimum Qualifications Valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states. Minimum of 6 months experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced laboratory or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High school diploma or GED. Minimum 2 years overall experience in phlebotomy. #J-18808-Ljbffr
