A. BASIC PURPOSE The purpose of the Sales Associate I is to assist The Salvation Army in the operation of the Thrift Store for the Reno Adult Rehabilitation Program. This job description is a broad outline of responsibilities.

B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Stock, clean, rag out goods, operate the cash register and prepare daily paperwork.
• Responsible for keys to open and/or close store.
• Responsible for maintaining good customer relations and giving prompt, courteous assistance to all customers.
• Answer telephone in a courteous fashion and direct caller to appropriate department.
• Ensure store appearance is clean and orderly.
• Responsible for janitorial duties: i.e., cleaning windows, vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, cleaning bathrooms, etc. as assigned by management.
• Other duties as assigned by Store Manager or Assistant Manager.

C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to handle cash, make change and operate register.
• Must be able to take instructions and carry them out without direct supervision.
• Knowledge of merchandise preferred.
• Previous retail experience a plus.
• Good rapport with customers.
• Strong ability to utilize high levels of time management and multitasking.

D. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.

E. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects. Ability to reach overhead. Ability to operate telephone. Ability to lift (50) pounds non-continuously. Ability to operate a computer. Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information. Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools.
