Area Sales Manager I Texas

Relate Search has partnered with a leading provider of commercial water and mechanical solutions in its search for an Area Sales Manager to drive growth across Texas. This role offers end-to-end ownership of territory demand generation, from building qualified pipeline and influencing product specifications to developing independent sales rep performance and growing revenue. The successful leader will bring strong technical credibility in commercial water heating and HVAC-adjacent equipment, while coordinating with internal engineering, product, marketing, and technical support teams to turn market opportunities into results. Responsibilities Own the Texas territory’s demand-generation strategy and results, building qualified pipeline, increasing specification penetration, and driving revenue growth. Lead and develop independent sales rep agencies through clear targets, regular performance reviews, coaching, and accountability; manage key territory accounts and channels. Build relationships with engineers, design firms, contractors, wholesalers, and other customers, providing technical guidance on product selection, sizing, applications, and energy-saving opportunities. Coordinate with internal Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, Customer Support, and National Account teams to localize programs, support specifications, resolve product issues, and improve territory execution. Track pipeline, forecasts, and demand-generation KPIs in a CRM; use market and competitive intelligence to prioritize opportunities and support pricing decisions. Qualifications 10+ years of experience selling technical or engineered products in HVAC, commercial boilers, water heating, or the plumbing and mechanical industry; commercial condensing or tankless water-heating experience is strongly preferred. Demonstrated success owning demand generation and building pipeline through specification influence, industry relationships, events, training, or targeted market programs—not solely quota or rep management. Experience managing independent or third-party sales representative agencies and driving performance through influence rather than direct authority. Strong technical fluency and the ability to lead product sizing, selection, and application conversations with engineers, contractors, and major accounts. Experience working across a matrixed organization; strong communication, presentation, relationship-building, and accountability skills, plus proficiency with a CRM such as Salesforce and Microsoft Office.
