Class A Truck Driver

Job Summary

We are seeking a Class A Truck Driver to safely and efficiently transport biomass fuel and related materials between company facilities, offsite storage locations, fuel suppliers, and designated pickup points.

This position plays an important role in maintaining the fuel supply necessary for ongoing operations while ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT), safety, and environmental requirements.

The ideal candidate has strong attention to safety, equipment care, regulatory compliance, and reliable transportation operations.

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts
• Day, night, or rotating shift options
• 7 days on / 7 days off , providing a full week off every other week

Pay: 30/Hr

Key Responsibilities

Transportation & Material Handling

• Operate Class A commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers, live-bottom trailers, walking-floor trailers, and other fuel transportation equipment.
• Transport biomass fuels, including wood waste, agricultural byproducts, and other approved renewable fuel sources.
• Load, unload, and deliver biomass materials safely and efficiently.
• Verify load integrity, load securement, weight distribution, and compliance with applicable transportation regulations.
• Complete daily transportation routes while maintaining fuel supply and inventory requirements.
• Assist with fuel receiving and storage operations as needed.

Equipment Operation & Maintenance

• Conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and periodic vehicle inspections.
• Identify and promptly report equipment deficiencies, safety concerns, or maintenance needs.
• Keep trucks, trailers, transportation equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and serviceable.
• Report faulty equipment and coordinate repairs, preventative maintenance, or authorized minor adjustments with maintenance personnel and management.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all company safety policies, environmental procedures, and operating practices.
• Comply with federal, state, and local DOT regulations.
• Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and participate in safety meetings and training.
• Maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and satisfactory driving record.
• Immediately report accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
• Follow customer-site safety requirements and maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while on customer property.

Documentation & Communication

• Complete inspection reports, fuel logs, transportation records, and electronic documentation accurately and on time.
• Communicate with plant operators, fuel handlers, dispatch personnel, and supervisors regarding equipment conditions, fuel inventory, route status, and operational concerns.
• Utilize mobile technology, vehicle communication systems, and transportation software as required.
• Maintain accurate records and logs, including inspection findings, fuel delivery information, and equipment concerns.

Operational Support

• Support fuel supply continuity during operational needs, adverse weather conditions, and scheduled outages.
• Assist with facility housekeeping, yard activities, and material handling operations as needed.
• Participate in emergency response situations and operational support activities when trained and authorized.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed by leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical, transportation, logistics, or heavy equipment training preferred.
• Minimum of two years of commercial driving experience operating Class A vehicles preferred.
• Experience hauling bulk commodities, agricultural products, biomass, wood products, aggregates, or similar materials preferred.
• Experience operating 53-foot walking-floor trailers or similar self-unloading trailers.
• Experience operating trailers with hydraulic unloading systems, walking floors, or live-bottom equipment preferred.
• Experience in industrial, manufacturing, utility, energy production, agricultural, or related environments is desirable.
• Must hold and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License .

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of DOT regulations, commercial vehicle operations, and transportation safety standards.
• Ability to inspect, operate, and troubleshoot commercial transportation equipment.
• Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures and hazard recognition.
• Knowledge of hauling, unloading, and handling biomass fuels using fuel-handling equipment such as conveyors and elevators.
• Working knowledge of pre-trip inspections, basic equipment troubleshooting, preventative maintenance practices, and minor repairs related to trucks, trailers, and fuel-handling equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating procedures, inspection requirements, and other work-related documents.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing operational demands.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to accurately complete documentation and electronic records.
• Ability to receive feedback, follow management direction, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Professionalism and good judgment when interacting with customers and the community.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently sit for extended periods while operating commercial vehicles.
• Frequently climb into and out of truck cabs, trailers, and equipment.
• Walk across uneven terrain, gravel surfaces, yards, and industrial facility grounds.
• Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, reach, climb ladders, and use stairs to perform inspections and routine work tasks.
• Use hands and fingers to operate controls, tools, mobile devices, and mechanical equipment.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, and dust.
• Tolerate exposure to noise, vibration, moving mechanical equipment, and airborne particulates.
• Maintain sufficient vision, hearing, and mobility to safely operate commercial vehicles and perform required inspections.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules as operational needs require.
• Ability to work and drive in all-weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, and ice.
