Provides technical leadership within the development team through writing, testing and debugging complex and critical code for software solutions. Leads the development of major features or components. Leads the design and architecture of software systems, making strategic decisions to ensure scalability, flexibility, and maintainability. Takes ownership of critical features or modules within projects, driving their development from conception to implementation. Collaborates with product managers to define and refine requirements. Conducts and leads code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices. Sets and enforces high code quality standards within the team. Contributes to project planning, estimation, and execution, collaborating with project managers and other leads. Acts as a technical lead on projects, ensuring successful delivery. Actively contributes to process improvements, optimizing development workflows, and suggesting tools or methodologies that enhance efficiency. Implements best practices in the development process. Stays abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to lead innovation within the development team. The Senior Specialist, Software Engineering leads technical delivery of cost basis management solutions within a fast-paced Fintech environment. Operating as both a hands-on individual contributor and informal team lead, drives architecture decisions, mentors peers and partners with cross-functional teams to build reliable, scalable platform capabilities. They bring deep domain expertise, a cloud-native mindset and a passion for AI-augmented engineering.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Senior Specialist, Software Engineering:

• Identify and resolve complex operational, regulatory, and organizational challenges by leveraging deep cost basis domain expertise and hands-on engineering skills.
• Design, develop, and implement methodologies, protocols, and processes that enhance platform reliability and improve client experience.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using modern DevOps tooling (Git CI/CD pipeline, Jenkins) to ensure fast, reliable automated builds, testing, and deployments.
• Operationalize cost basis strategies through clean, maintainable code and well-documented engineering standards shared across the team.
• Coordinate with engineering peers, product managers, and operations to ensure timely and accurate delivery of cost basis calculation and tax reporting features.
• Ensure all activities comply with applicable regulatory standards; proactively contribute to technical frameworks that support ongoing compliance.
• Provide technical mentorship and code review guidance to junior and mid-level engineers; deliver actionable, growth-oriented feedback.
• Resolve complex cost basis calculation challenges, including corporate action adjustments, transfer‑in basis reconciliation, and multi‑lot accounting edge cases.
• Contribute to long-term technical roadmap planning, capability development, and engineering best practices.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with product, operations, and engineering teams to ensure alignment and effective delivery.
• Integrate AI/ML capabilities (e.g., anomaly detection, intelligent reconciliation, LLM-assisted workflows) to improve platform automation and reduce manual intervention in tax operations.

Skills and Experience of the Senior Specialist, Software Engineering:

• 10+ years of relevant experience, including at least 3-5 years in cost basis, tax operations within a financial services or Fintech organization.
• Strong domain knowledge of cost basis methodologies and tax lot accounting.
• Exposure to tax reporting domains, including familiarity with IRS systems and knowledge of various tax reporting formats and regulatory reporting requirements, is highly desirable.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Proven analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a track record of resolving complex operational and system‑level issues.
• Hands-on experience leading and coordinating cross-functional technical initiatives involving engineering, operations, and compliance.
• Cloud expertise: proficiency in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, OCI, Azure, or GCP), including infrastructure-as-code, cloud-native services, and cost-efficient architecture patterns.
• AI/ML integration: experience leveraging AI tools, LLM APIs, or ML pipelines to augment engineering workflows, automate operations, or enhance platform intelligence.
• CI/CD proficiency: experience designing and maintaining automated pipelines (build, test, deploy) with modern DevOps tooling and GitOps practices.
• Expert-level proficiency in Oracle databases, including advanced PL/SQL development for complex queries, stored procedures, and performance optimization.
• Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux shell scripting to automate operational tasks, data processing workflows, and system maintenance.
• Strong Java development skills, with the ability to design, develop, and troubleshoot distributed backend services and integrations.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot and a deep background in Spring Batch for building scalable microservices, automated batch workflows, and high-volume financial data processing solutions.
• Proficient in Git for version control, including branching strategies, pull request workflows, and code review best practices.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex technical or regulatory concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders. 
• Background in driving operational execution, meeting daily and short‑term objectives while supporting long‑term departmental goals.
