Field Service Technician

This role focuses on delivering, setting up, servicing, and retrieving pump equipment and accessories at customer sites. The Field Service Technician loads and unloads equipment, ensures safe transport, assists with installation and breakdown, performs minor repairs, and provides basic training to customers on pump operation. The position combines driving, hands-on mechanical work, and direct customer interaction in a field-based environment.

Responsibilities

  • Load, secure, and unload pump equipment and accessories on the truck to ensure safe over-the-road travel.
  • Deliver pumping equipment and accessories to customer sites and pick them up at the end of the rental period.
  • Review all items being delivered or picked up with the customer to ensure completeness and accuracy of each order.
  • Assist in the set-up of pumping equipment at customer locations, including positioning, assembly, and connection as needed.
  • Instruct customers on the proper operation of the equipment and answer questions, or promptly obtain accurate information when needed.
  • Break down and pick up rental equipment with customer assistance, following established procedures.
  • Account for all rental equipment during pickup, assess its condition, and ensure all items are returned to the branch according to standard procedures.
  • Complete written documentation on pickup tickets and other required forms to record equipment condition and returns.
  • Perform daily on-site service calls to diagnose and repair minor service issues following a standard response procedure.
  • Maintain logs of mileage, deliveries, pickups, and service calls in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Carry out simple mechanical repairs such as oil changes, basic troubleshooting, and minor adjustments on diesel-powered equipment.
  • Follow a scheduled 24/7 emergency on-call rotation as assigned, responding to urgent service needs at customer sites.
  • Adapt to a work schedule that may change based on customer needs and service demands.
  • Use hand tools, basic mechanical tools, and troubleshooting techniques to support installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
  • Collaborate with branch personnel and follow standard procedures to ensure consistent, high-quality service for customers.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1+ years of driving experience, with the ability to safely operate a Ford F-450 or similar truck.
  • At least 1+ years of mechanical experience, preferably working with pumps, diesel-powered equipment, or similar machinery.
  • Basic mechanical ability and working knowledge of diesel-powered equipment, including performing simple repairs and oil changes.
  • Ability to load and unload construction or industrial equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Experience or familiarity with pumping stations, pumps, and pump assembly.
  • Capability to use hand tools for installation, maintenance, and repair tasks.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills to diagnose minor mechanical and service issues.
  • Ability to read and understand basic instructions, maps, and, where applicable, simple blueprints or diagrams.
  • Good sense of direction and ability to navigate to multiple job sites.
  • Comfort working in a field service environment, including outdoor work and travel between sites.
  • Willingness to set up equipment correctly and consistently, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to a non-routine schedule, including participation in a 24/7 emergency on-call rotation.
  • Strong customer service orientation, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers on-site.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience loading or unloading construction equipment is helpful.
  • Exposure to water treatment, construction, electronics, wiring, or related fields is an advantage.
  • Experience as a maintenance technician, repair technician, or in a similar mechanical or field service role is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices for mechanical or diesel-powered equipment.
  • Ability to interpret basic technical information related to installation, service, and repair of pumps and related equipment.
  • Comfort working as a "backyard mechanic" type, with practical hands-on skills even if not a formally trained mechanic.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and testing to improve product knowledge and service skills.
  • Capability to drive and operate a Ford F-450 truck; no special commercial license is required for this vehicle.

Work Environment

This is a first-shift position with a typical schedule of 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The role is field-based and requires daily driving of a Ford F-450 or similar truck to multiple customer sites. Work is primarily performed outdoors, involving the delivery, setup, service, and breakdown of pump equipment in varying weather and site conditions. The environment is hands-on and mechanical, using tools and equipment related to pumps, diesel-powered machinery, and basic mechanical repair. Employees travel between job sites, work on uneven or construction-type terrain, and handle equipment loading and unloading. Uniforms are provided to support a consistent and practical dress code suitable for field service work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Palm Beach, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
