About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 12 months Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 18 months required, first-timers accepted License: Must hold a valid license prior to start date Certifications: ACLS, BLS; NIHSS preferred Must-Have: Telemetry skills, IV start experience, knowledge of cardiac and vasoactive drips, BiPAP and high flow oxygen management Description: The unit provides care in a cardiac and medical progressive care setting. It functions as a true surgical step-down unit for patients recovering from heart catheterizations. Clinical staff manage BiPAP, cardiac drips, and vasoactive drips. Staff may engage in the administration of medications like Levophed, Dopamine, Nitro, Cardizem, and Amiodarone. Nurses are expected to provide care for patients on cardiac drips without titration. Staff members are required to float within the facility as needed. The patient ratio is typically 4:1 for both day and night shifts. Mandatory weekend work is part of the role. The unit serves adults and geriatric populations. Previous charge nurse experience is preferred. Skills required include the interpretation of dysrhythmias and management of dysrhythmias. Candidates must be proficient in initiating and maintaining IVs. Responsibilities include post-cardiac angiogram and pre/post-cardiac catheterization care. The environment emphasizes interdisciplinary support and collaboration.
