Founding Member of Technical Staff

About the Role We are looking for exceptional builders to join Thorin as Founding Members of Technical Staff. This role is designed for engineers who do not fit neatly into traditional job descriptions. You may work across AI, product, infrastructure, customer workflows, internal systems, or entirely new areas that emerge as the company grows. We value people who thrive in ambiguity, move quickly, and enjoy solving hard problems from first principles. The ideal candidate combines strong technical ability with product judgment, intellectual curiosity, and a high degree of ownership. As a founding member of the technical team, you'll work directly with founders, influence the direction of the company, and help define the standards, culture, and systems that future teams will build upon. We care less about titles or years of experience and more about your ability to learn quickly, create leverage, and make the organization stronger. Why This Role Is Different You will not be joining an established design organization. You will help create it. You will have the opportunity to shape the product, influence company strategy, work directly with founders and engineers, and help define how AI-native software should feel. What You'll Do Solve some of the hardest technical and product problems at the company. Build systems, products, and workflows from first principles. Partner directly with founders and customers. Use AI aggressively to create leverage for yourself and the organization. Help define the technical and cultural standards of Thorin. What We're Looking For You have repeatedly taken ownership of difficult problems. You are AI-native and use AI as part of how you think and work. You learn quickly and adapt to new domains. You have strong technical judgment and product instincts. You challenge assumptions and contribute independent ideas. You care more about outcomes than job descriptions.
