QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with teachers, support staff, and school administrators. Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)/restraint certification, First aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training course completed at first available offering by District. High school diploma preferred or equivalent.

REPORTS TO:

Principal, professional staff to whom assigned

JOB GOAL:

To assist professional staff members by performing a variety of tasks related to supporting student behaviors.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide behavioral support to students under the direction of a certified staff member. Support the schoolwide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program. Provide mentoring to assigned students. Assist in preparing/presenting instructional materials to support the District’s Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum. Assist with maintaining individual student records as assigned. Assist in supervising students in the classroom, lunchroom, and on the playground under the supervision of a certified staff member. Participate as appropriate in assigned students’ individual behavior intervention plans. Present subject matter to students, utilizing a variety of methods and techniques such as direct instruction, discussion, and supervised role‑playing, under the supervision of a certified staff member. Assist students, individually or in groups, with strategies to develop skills needed to regularly practice self‑regulation habits. Perform other job duties as assigned.

Perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios. Read a variety of manuals; writes documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others. Understand multi‑step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge‑based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: office equipment/software. LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to work with a variety of people and maintain confidentiality of information.

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet and district software and Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and other appropriate technology software). Knowledge of appropriate business machines and telephones. Monitor special system(s), not limited to, including security and fire alarm systems.
