Key Responsibilities

• Provide routine and complex nursing care utilizing the nursing process — assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation — for assigned patients in the operating room/surgical setting
• Administer medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with scope of practice
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately and thoroughly
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identify issues and connect to appropriate resources
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers as needed to manage the clinical situation

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of employment or a valid compact license
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in an operating room or surgical nursing specialty
• Ability to fulfill on-call and weekend requirements as assigned

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Experience working in a fast-paced surgical or perioperative environment
• Demonstrated ability to manage contingencies and adapt to complex clinical situations independently
