Position Overview

The Recreation/Activity Therapist is responsible for planning and implementing activity services for assigned programs. This role involves completing activity therapy assessments, facilitating patient groups and individual therapy sessions, and utilizing various expressive therapy modalities. The therapist will also define and implement treatment plan interventions as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.

Education and Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Dance and Movement Therapy, Recreation Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, or relevant Educational fields where Expressive Arts were practiced.
• Current registration, certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), or licensure in accordance with state and/or national board standards in the specific field of allied health.
• At least 1 year of experience in a related field.
• Current CPR certification is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct activity therapy assessments for assigned programs.
• Facilitate group and individual therapy utilizing various expressive therapeutic modalities.
• Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Maintain all clinical documentation accurately.
• Provide continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling.

Skills and Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and mental illness.
• Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.

Work Schedule

Days - 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with weekends as needed. A flexible schedule is preferred.
