Business Analyst

Job TitleUnder general direction, evaluates the impact, return, and costs presented by work process improvement opportunities. Participates in business planning, needs analysis and business risk assessment for making recommendations that will positively impact operational effectiveness.*This position will be a 2-year contract with possibility for extension*ResponsibilitiesThe list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the duties and responsibilities performed within this classification. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment to the position.Creates and maintains project schedules by developing project plans and specifications, estimating time requirements, establishing deadlines, monitoring milestone completion, tracking all phases of the project product/service lifecycleAnalyzes all business implications of the application of technology to the current business environment and serve as liaison between customers and development teams during the initial phase of projectsGathers, documents, and, analyzes application requirements, conducts application analysis, and participates in functional application design to meet the needs of the businessFacilitate meetings with internal subject matter experts and external business partners/vendorsCreates detailed technical specifications, process models, data mappings and data models for development of new or modifications to existing products.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEBachelor's degrees in Business Administration, Information Systems or related field from an accredited college or university; supplemented by five (5) years of experience in the areas of development, implementation, systems integration and technical business analysis or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND DESIGNATIONS:International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) certification or Six Sigma certification preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESAbility to analyze and document complex business processesAbility to make effective decisions under pressureStrong analytical and problem solving skillsAbility to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms to customers and staffSolid mathematical aptitude and effective project management skillsAbility to lead discovery sessions through excellent communication and facilitation skillsSkill in Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to take ownership and provide coordination for tasks related to implementation to test and production.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
