Position Summary

TRELLIS is seeking an energetic and strategic Market Development Manager to lead market growth throughout the Greater Lansing region. This role will focus on generating new revenue by expanding relationships with existing customers, generating new business, creating brand preference among project influencers, and establishing TRELLIS as a trusted workplace solutions partner across the capital region.

The ideal candidate combines strong business development skills with a deep commitment to relationship-building and community involvement.

Key Responsibilities

Grow Existing Accounts

• Strengthen and expand relationships with existing commercial, education, healthcare, state government, and public-sector clients.
• Identify opportunities for new projects, renovations, workplace transformations, and service offerings.
• Develop and execute strategic account plans to maximize client retention and growth.

Develop New Business

• Identify and pursue competitively held accounts and new customer opportunities throughout the Lansing market.
• Prospect within key sectors including commercial, higher education, and nonprofit organizations.
• Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities.
• Conduct presentations and lead sales pursuits from initial contact through project completion.

Drive Specification and Project Influence

• Cultivate relationships with architects, designers, engineering firms, construction managers, general contractors, developers, and commercial brokers.
• Position TRELLIS early in project development cycles.
• Promote manufacturer partners and product solutions to influence project specifications.
• Collaborate with internal specialists to strengthen market influence and project pursuit efforts.

Build Community and Industry Relationships

• Actively engage with Lansing-area business organizations, chambers, economic development groups, and professional associations.
• Attend and participate in networking, industry, and community events.
• Build visibility and awareness of TRELLIS within the local business ecosystem.
• Create strategic partnerships that generate long-term sales opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of business development, account management, commercial sales, or related experience.
• Proven success developing new business.
• Strong relationship development and networking capabilities.
• Experience working with government, education, healthcare, commercial real estate, architecture, construction, or related markets is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Must live in the Lansing area and be in-person.
