Provides crisis intervention for patients with mental health care needs. Prescribes and monitors medications. Assumes responsibility for difficult and complex patients based on experience or area of expertise. May serve as a practicum instructor or preceptor for graduate or undergraduate students. You may upload these documents to the application under CV/Resume.Required Education and ExperienceMaster's Degree in Nursing or equivalent level of education and experience that qualifies the applicant to hold a Nurse Practitioner License in Texas.Required Licenses and CertificationsTexas Board of Nursing Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licenses with prescriptive authority in TexasBoard certified in mental healthDEA registrationBLS certificationAll licensure/certification must be maintained for continued employmentPreferred QualificationsPrior experience in MATBilingualResponsibilitiesClinical Assessments and EvaluationsEngages in clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations.Provides crisis intervention for patients with mental health care needs.Monitors patients to ensure adherence to treatment plans.Assumes responsibility for difficult and complex patients based on experience or area of expertise.Medication Management and DocumentationPrescribes and monitors medications.Completes accurate and appropriate documentation of patient encounters in the electronic medical records system in a timely manner.Acts in accordance with all departmental policies/procedures, relevant licensing boards, and local, state, and federal laws regulating Nurse Practitioners.Counseling and ConsultationEngages in counseling/clinical-related activities and works closely with the Integrated Behavioral Health unit.Consults with other providers regarding patients' psychiatric medications and treatment plans to ensure appropriateness and coordination of care.Serves as an internal resource for staff and medical providers regarding psychiatric-mental health care questions.Education and TrainingMay serve as a practicum instructor or preceptor for graduate or undergraduate students.Participates in continuing education to maintain licensure and board certification.May conduct scholarly presentations to clinic staff and participate in educational activities for staff, students, and trainees of other disciplines.Administrative DutiesEngages in various administrative aspects of counseling/clinical cases.Completes outside referrals as needed.May assist in preparing patient educational materials.Instructions to Applicants: Applications received by Texas A&M University must either have all job application data entered, or a resume attached.
