R&D Engineer II

Compensation Range: $90,200.00 – $104,800.00FLSA Classification: Exempt

Position Summary The R&D Engineer II is responsible for executing research and development activities that support prototype evolution, concept validation, and mechanical analysis for emerging technologies. This role independently leads moderate-scope engineering investigations and applies structured methodologies, including Design of Experiments (DOE), to evaluate performance and inform design decisions. The position collaborates cross-functionally with Product Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing, and Sales to translate experimental results into actionable product and process improvements. As a key technical contributor, this role enhances testing rigor, documentation quality, and overall R&D effectiveness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Execute moderate-scope research tasks, engineering analyses, and new product development projects. Develop and implement test plans, ensuring structured validation of designs and concepts. Apply Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies to evaluate performance and optimize outcomes. Analyze test data and document results to support engineering decisions. Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Project Management, and Manufacturing teams. Support prototype fabrication, assembly, testing, and data collection activities. Perform CAD modeling, drawing updates, and engineering documentation. Conduct engineering calculations, feasibility studies, and design evaluations. Prepare and present technical findings to engineering teams and stakeholders. Maintain laboratory equipment and assist with experimental setup and troubleshooting. Ensure compliance with safety standards and ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements. Adhere to company policies, including code of conduct and attendance expectations. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (required)

Minimum Experience

2–4 years of experience in R&D, product development, or mechanical design

Certifications (Preferred)

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification, or ability to obtain within 12 months SolidWorks Professional certification
