We are looking for a hands-on Automotive Shop Manager / Service Writer with a solid mechanical background to oversee daily shop operations at our independent repair facility. In this dual-impact role, you will bridge the front desk and the bay—greeting clients, writing repair estimates, managing technician workflow, and using your diagnostic expertise to explain repairs clearly to customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Service Writing & Client Care: Greet customers, listen to vehicle concerns, write accurate repair orders/estimates, and explain diagnostic results and needed repairs clearly.
• Shop & Bay Management: Dispatch work orders to technicians, track job progress, ensure parts are ordered promptly, and keep daily workflow on schedule.
• Technical Quality Control: Utilize your hands-on mechanical background to verify repair quality, assist techs with complex diagnostics, and perform final test drives.
• Operations & Inventory: Oversee parts ordering, inventory management, vendor relationships, and daily repair order invoicing.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Mechanical Background: Hands-on experience as an automotive technician/mechanic is preferred.
• Service Writing Experience: Proven track record writing estimates, using shop management software, and communicating directly with clients.
• Leadership Skills: Ability to lead technicians, delegate tasks, and maintain high shop morale and efficiency.
• Valid Driver’s License: Clean driving record required for road testing vehicles.
