Interim Controller

A growing, private equity-backed medical device company is seeking an experienced Interim Controller to take ownership of the accounting function during an important stage of the company's evolution. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a seasoned accounting professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys bringing structure, discipline, and financial visibility to the organization.
The Interim Controller will serve as the senior accounting leader, partnering directly with the CEO and executive team while ensuring accurate financial reporting, a disciplined close process, and strong internal controls. The ideal candidate combines technical accounting expertise with the ability to roll up their sleeves and drive execution. What You'll Own- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting
- Oversee general accounting operations, including AP, payroll, treasury, and related functions
- Prepare financial packages and reporting for executive leadership and private equity stakeholders
- Manage external audit activities and coordinate with tax advisors
- Strengthen internal controls, accounting processes, and reporting accuracy
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives across the accounting function
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, and business performance analysis
- Serve as a key business partner to leadership during a period of growth and operational change
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibility
- Prior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accounting leader
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience managing audits and working with external auditors
- Demonstrated success improving processes and strengthening financial controls
- Advanced Excel skills and strong systems aptitude
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving, hands-on environment
- Manufacturing, medical device, industrial, or product-based industry experience
- Cost accounting and inventory accounting expertise
- Experience in a private equity-backed organization
- CPA designation
- Highly visible role partnering directly with executive leadership
