Healthcare IT & Information Systems Specialist
Full-Time On-Site | Day Shift | Monday–Friday | No Nights, Weekends, or Holidays
Location: Grand Rapids, MI

Grand Valley Medical Specialists is seeking an experienced Healthcare IT & Systems Specialist to support the technology and systems that enable efficient day-to-day clinical and administrative operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, a proactive approach to problem-solving and an understanding of the unique technology needs of a healthcare environment.

Job Overview

The Healthcare IT & Systems Specialist will provide hands-on support for the practice's day-to-day technology needs while assisting with system upgrades, technology projects and coordination with outside vendors.

We are looking for a highly motivated and dependable professional with strong follow-through, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The successful candidate will be comfortable balancing daily support needs with ongoing projects and system-related responsibilities.

This role requires regular interaction with staff, managers, leadership, and healthcare providers. The ideal candidate will be responsive and approachable while maintaining an organized process for tracking requests, communicating updates, and ensuring issues are followed through to resolution.

Key Responsibilities

EHR, Healthcare Systems & Quality Initiatives

· Maintain and support the practice's Electronic Health Record (EHR), Practice Management, and other healthcare technology systems, including application troubleshooting and user support.

• Support EHR interfaces, integrations, system upgrades, testing, implementations, and other system changes.
• Serve as an internal resource for system functionality and workflows, identifying opportunities to use technology to improve practice efficiency, clinical workflows, and quality initiatives.
• Coordinate with software vendors and other technology partners to support system performance and resolve issues.

IT Support & Project Coordination

• Manage day-to-day IT support and technology requests, ensuring issues are appropriately prioritized and followed through to resolution.
• Support user accounts and permissions, Microsoft applications, workstations, printers, scanners, clinical devices, and other workplace technology.
• Coordinate technology-related employee and provider onboarding and offboarding, including equipment and system access.
• Coordinate and support technology projects, implementations, equipment replacement, software licensing, and technology purchasing.
• Work with the practice's third-party IT/network provider on technical support, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and HIPAA-related technology and security needs.

 

 

Training & Documentation

• Provide EHR and technology support and training for new and existing staff and providers.
• Develop and maintain training materials, IT documentation, procedures, and other technology resources.

Qualifications & Skills Desired

• Experience supporting EHR/EMR, practice management, or other healthcare technology systems.
• Experience providing day-to-day technical support in a professional, multi-user environment.
• Experience coordinating or supporting technology projects, system implementations, upgrades, or integrations.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, computer hardware, software, user access, and common workplace technology.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare technology/security standards.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with demonstrated attention to detail, prioritization, and follow-through.
