Shop Clerk

The Shop Clerk is responsible for providing administrative and data entry support to the Shop Department. This position plays a critical role in maintaining accurate records, processing equipment and payroll information, and generating reports that support daily operations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Review source documents for completeness and accuracy. Enter and update data within company computer systems. Process employee hours, equipment hours, daily aggregate totals, and related operational data. Enter accounts payable information accurately and timely. Process and track equipment moves. Maintain filing systems for repair tickets, reports, parts inventories, and other departmental records. Generate and distribute routine and ad hoc reports as requested. Contact employees, vendors, and other departments to obtain missing or clarify unclear information. Maintain departmental documentation and archives for future reference. Assist management with special projects and departmental initiatives. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Three months to one year of related administrative, clerical, or data entry experience preferred. Experience in a transportation, construction, fleet, or maintenance environment is a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Basic understanding of office procedures and recordkeeping practices. Ability to operate computers and standard office equipment, including calculators, copiers, scanners, telephones, and printers. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees, vendors, and other departments. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately. Primarily an office-based position. Occasional exposure to shop and transportation environments, including noise, dust, fumes, and equipment activity. Work conditions are generally comfortable and not considered disagreeable. Physical Requirements Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment. Regular verbal communication in person and by telephone. Ability to maintain concentration and visual focus on detailed work for extended periods. Occasional lifting or moving of materials weighing up to 25 pounds, such as files, records, or office supplies. Why Join Our Team?
