To date, the company has deployed over 200 networks - enough undersea cable to circle Earth more than 17 times at the equator.Position Overview:A Tradesperson Class 1 within the OPS department completes a variety of electro-mechanical assembly operations building underwater repeaters based on training and detailed work instructions. This work is in a clean room environment where attention to detail, a focus on safety and quality as well as an ability to strive for continuous improvement are crucial.Responsibilities and Duties: (*Indicates an Essential Function)Be an active participant of the daily team meeting or Gemba walks; share your findingsWorks independently and follows the current and controlled version of the work instructionsAccurately performs detailed work with extreme attention to detail, such as handling fiber optic cable, splicing cable together, soldering, as well as electronic assemblyPerforms visual inspection using a variety of magnification tools, identifying errors and reports issues to appropriate personnelFollows verbal and written instruction, accepts increased responsibility and is accountable for his/her actionsFollows safety guidelines (PPE, etc.) and demonstrates safe work practicesMaintains a good safety record, has a working knowledge of the behavioral based safety initiatives and accepts the responsibility to communicate unsafe situationsAdheres to the safety and quality standards (goals and metrics) of the organization while working within a team environmentMaintains timely and accurate production checklists and other documentationWhile interacting with customers and visitors, represents the Company in a positive mannerSupports production activities such as replenishing materials, refilling bottles with alcohol and cleaning solution, cleaning fixtures, emptying trash bins, etc.Promotes job and process improvement as it relates to the department (through 5S as well as other improvement initiatives)Provides effort in all levels of work tasks, including highly technical job functions as well as cleaning the work area as neededSuccessfully learns a variety of production processes and performs them safely and proficientlyResponds to multiple production assignments in a timely and efficient mannerOvertime may be required, based on business need; regular attendance requiredOther duties as assignedHigh school diploma or equivalency requiredTwo or more years of related experience and/or training strongly preferredDemonstrated leadership skills and positive communication styleMust be able to pass a mechanical and electrical aptitude testMath skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimalsIntermediate computer skills, including entering data into software program, looking up documents within an online library and MS Office, including OutlookAbility to compute rate, ratio and percentAbility to read and interpret handheld measuring equipment such as a metal rule and pressure gaugesAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructionsEfficiently use measuring equipment, including but not limited to tape measures, calipers, verniers and micrometersApply basic troubleshooting skills and make sound decisionsSafely work with hand tools and sharps, such as scissors, regularlyPossess the ability to react to changes of responsibility throughout the dayMust have the flexibility to respond to multiple assignmentsMust have good hand-eye coordinationAttention to detail requiredCleanroom experience preferredExperience with circuit boards preferredFiber handling/splicing experience a plusAbility to work any shift, including nights and weekendsAbility to speak, read and write English with technical proficiency #J-18808-Ljbffr
