Tax Accountant

Hiring an Analytical, detail-oriented Fund/Tax Accountant needed to support quarterly and year-end reporting. This role will analyze financial information, identify issues, research questions, and collaborate with Asset Managers to meet reporting deadlines. The client is open to seeing more junior profiles. Tax experience is beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

• Support year-end reporting processes, including coordinating, collecting, and reviewing project-level tax returns, audits, and related documentation to meet investor reporting deadlines.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for project sponsors and external CPAs, facilitating communication and resolving reporting requests and issues.
• Review draft and final audited financial statements and tax returns, identify discrepancies or unusual items, and work with CPAs and project sponsors to resolve outstanding issues.
• Analyze variances between projected and actual project performance, partnering with Asset Management to validate material differences and tax credit calculations.
• Conduct quarterly financial analysis of project-level results to support Asset Management decision-making and broader portfolio oversight.
• Maintain documentation related to tax and partnership accounting concepts, including bonus depreciation, reportable entities, and minimum gain.
• Prepare ad hoc reports and perform financial analysis using Excel to support internal reporting needs.
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting workflows, systems, and internal controls.
• Escalate reporting delays, risks, and significant issues to the Financial Analysis Manager and VP of Financial Analysis as appropriate.
• Collaborate with Fund Accounting and Asset Management to ensure accurate and consistent reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in tax, audit, accounting, or financial reporting.
• Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
• Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to analyze financial data and prepare reports.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail, including the ability to review work for accuracy and identify discrepancies.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
